Hi, I’m Darby Shouse, owner of Bar Up Equine Bodyworks.
I grew up in Rural Eastern Oregon which is where I found my love and passion for all things horses. From a young age, I was on a horse every chance I got. Whether I was moving cows, sorting pairs out or just galloping across a field, all I wanted to do was ride. Once in high school, I worked with my dad as a cowboy and with several horse trainers. From here, my passion for horses only grew. I attended Lamar Community College in Lamar Colorado where I earned my degree in Equine Business Management and did 2 internships within the industry. After college I started studying structural integration and bodyworks at the Equine School of Natural Movement under Joseph Freeman. Today I continue to grow in my knowledge as a horsewoman and strive to help as many horses as possible. My goal is to offer a non-invasive, drug free and affordable form of pain relief and physical therapy to working horses and connect with their amazing owners.
Testimonials
“Darby tailors the treatments to each horse’s personality, comfort level and response. I really appreciate how calm and respectful she is handling my mares, explaining her techniques and answering my questions! Between Darby’s schooling, training and her real life experiences growing up around horses she has a very solid background in equine anatomy and can read even the slightest changes in the horse’s body language. My Mares are relaxed and much more agile after the treatments.”

“During the period in which Darby was working with our older ranch horse, she was the model of quiet confidence which carried over into the horse’s trust. She sensed where the horse’s “hurts” were and was very effective at conducting his therapy. Our older ranch horse is moving freely and feeling good.
Darby comes with our highest recommendation.”
